United Way

Silent Auction Bake Sale

United Way is one of many ways in which HMSA shares its resources and services with the community. Our employees sit on various United Way boards and committees and annually HMSA provides a community volunteer for United Way’s general fund-raising campaign.

HMSA sponsors employee fun-filled events to raise money during the general campaign. These popular events also boost morale and are a source of pride for employees.

Traditional events include the Executive Breakfast, in which HMSA executives prepare and serve breakfast to employees. Past themes for the breakfast have included hip-hop, the ’70s and jazz.

Other popular events include a country fair that includes food concessions and a farmers’ produce market, and a craft fair showcasing employees’ creations. Employees also participate in bake sales, white elephant sales, flower sales, and a silent auction.

In 2006, HMSA raised more than $229,000 for United Way through fundraising events and employee pledge cards. This money supports United Way’s partner agencies, community initiatives, and the thousands of families and individuals who rely on their support.
